Someone once said to me, “You make me like…high” and it was really cute and funny. When the mail arrived today I received an immediate rush from the poster tube that had the Maker’s Mark return address. I practically skipped into the house, flung open the sliding glass door so the pups could get some fresh air and green grass, then threw the mail on the picnic table and tore into what I thought might have been a belated birthday greeting from my favorite bourbon.
I was wrong.
It was so much better. This is what I received:

A letter and poster saying my barrel is just about done and will be bottled soon! Oh my fuck, I am, like, high. I’m gonna head out of town when the G20 Summit comes to town so I don’t have to deal with those fuckers, plus I can have all kinds of fun.
Oh yeah. AND I CAN BUY MAKER’S MARK BOURBON FROM *MY* BARREL! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I remember what it was like the day I walked out on the guy I lived with for several years. It sucked. Love was never a question, but the happiness of two individuals depended on my leaving. It broke my heart, but it was the right thing to do. As scared as I was, I packed up all my shit and moved across town, in with a good girl friend who owned a fantastic duplex in one of the best neighborhoods in the city.
That move? Had nothing on what Hilly has done. Ending a marriage is so much harder than when it doesn’t involve the ceremony and families. Deciding to move across town is nothing compared to the decision to pick up and start over across country. Moving into an already furnished and adorable apartment can’t even compare to having to shell out for everything new, even the very bed where you will lay your head.
I am so incredibly proud of Hilly for doing what is best for her. And doing it in the classiest of ways!
Cool thing is, Britt has decided to throw an internet housewarming party. Officially Hilly is in, but she needs a bunch of stuff to get that house into a home. If you have the means, please consider checking out Hill’s Amazon wish list. Times are tough and there are plenty of small things if you just want to let her know you are thinking of her. There are also plenty of larger items if you have more dimes to spare. Regardless, please send our Snackiepoo a message to let her know that you are happy she is moving on, moving up!

On a TOTALLY different note, I am a moron. Britney Spears has a song out that has been driving me crazy, like I was missing out on something. In the vehicle the other day I asked if Re knew who Amy was or what joke I was missing.
Did you all know that “if you seek Amy” sounds just like “F. U. C. K.” me? Yeah, I am a little slow on the uptake sometimes.
Love me hate me
Say what you want about me
But all of the boys and all of the girls are beggin’ to If You Seek Amy
A while back Britt suggested a weekend getaway in celebration of her birthday. Naturally, I couldn’t pass up the adventure. Which means I arrive in Orlando around noon. Yay! A few days at Britt’s house, a road trip in a cute little convertible, a wild weekend in South Carolina, some time driving Adam crazy celebrating Adam’s birthday, the opportunity to visit with Faiqa again, a few beers with Jared, plenty of laughter with Devin and Emma…what more could a girl ask for?
I know what! A girl could ask that her friends don’t catch a glimpse of said girl’s bra and said girl could hope that an alleged friend won’t holler something along the lines of “Holy shit, one cup is bigger than my head!”
Then again, a girl could ask that her friends don’t try to prove the point that one of their heads fit in the bra in question while the other friend photographs the so called fun. Oh yeah, I could ask for that.

I could ask, but I probably won’t get.
The annual Pitt – WVU game will be played here in Pittsburgh at noon. I will have been tailgating and drinking since 7 or 8 AM. To stay warm, of course. Bourbon (Maker’s Mark, naturally) and ginger ale. Maybe some beer. Club level seats afford us the pleasure of continuing the boozefest during the game, even though usually one cannot purchase alcohol at a college game. I will be with incredible people and hopefully Pitt will pull out a win.
The funny thing is, as much as I want the home team to win, it doesn’t exactly matter. I mean, one of the best times I ever had at the Backyard Brawl was in 2006 and I can’t even tell you who won. That year my company purchased about 40 tickets and I had the pleasure of planning the tailgate.

Yes, I brought my gnome. And used glass, marble, crystal and (ready for it Britt?) Longaberger baskets. At home I don’t do a lot of entertaining, I tend to get invited too many places for me to have to bother with having folks here, so it was fun to not use plastic.
Guillermo actually turned out to be quite the hit with drunk people. And Pitt cheerleaders.

Those two WVU fans were with me. The one on the left, Steve, came all the way down from New York to hang out for the weekend and do the game. We had met through our jobs a few months previously, and were instant friends. I was looking forward to trying my hand at matchmaking by setting him up with a good friend, however I was shell shocked two months after this picture when I received a phone call telling me that he was killed in a car accident. Makes it easier in my head to always picture him happy and supporting his beloved Mountaineers.

The drunker I got, the more I wanted to take my picture with everyone I was with. First it was handing the camera over to someone else…

Until they were too drunk to be trusted…
After that it was me just holding the camera out and taking the traditional drunk Becky photos…

One of my favorite WVU fans:
That is Roger. Poor guy was so drunk he lost himself at the half. He went to smoke and simply walked out of the stadium and was unable to find his way back in. Just called his wife and said come pick me up. They live an hour away. As she approached Heinz Field she called and said, “OK, where are you?” All he could say was, “I am at the game.” His reply to wanting to know what his drunk ass was looking at was, “Heinz Field.” Hehe. She calmly told him to turn around and tell her what he saw. Eventually she found drunk boy. Miracle.
While we are on the subject of drunk people, I met these nice drunk guys who insisted on posing with me. Too funny.

Although I have to say, my favorite photo is me with the owner of my company. Gotta love a guy who lets his marketing queen get plowed with the company guests and then takes pictures of everything. Who doesn’t even mind if she is too drunk to take a decent photo.

This year the my company isn’t putting on the killer tailgate so I don’t have to be on “good” behavior. Not sure if the photos will be suitable for posting. Hell, not even sure I will take the camera. This game has fall down potential.
Enjoy your day after Thanksgiving. What do you have planned?
Saturday was a magnificent day in the Burgh. I took this photo while driving in construction traffic on the way to Sarah’s baby shower. Yay for not getting into an accident while trying to capture autumn!

The baby shower was wonderful. Incredible people, terrific food, lots of presents. Unfortunately I didn’t feel too well so I wasn’t much fun, but everyone else was all up and happy.

One of the best parts of the shower was painting the onesies. Little customized clothing for the new baby. My favorites were “Party in my crib b.y.o.b” and “I have a big head and little arms.”

You can probably see which one I painted.

Seems Twinkle Twat couldn’t handle my artwork so she made another onesie after I left. My cell phone rang when I got home and there was this photo waiting for me:

Made me glad that I wrote “Sexual Favors” in the “For” line when I wrote her a check for my half of the presents . Cash that, bitch! hehe
You all know that my Mom was the oldest of nine kids. When I was young I used to think that I had at least 50 cousins. Turns out I don’t. Sad that I didn’t realize that until about three years ago when cousin Twinkle Twat had her son and her sister and I needed to stay up all night in an effort to be supportive during the brazillion hours of labor. Talking about any and everything, we counted cousins. There are only 11 cousins. Total. ELEVEN IS FAR FROM FIFTY. Woops. Only took me to 34 years of age before I figured that one out. Sheesh.
ANYhow, my little Cousin Sarah (You might remember that a few months ago she married her Marine who is still safe and doing well in Iraq.) is having a baby who is due to meet us around Christmas Day. Sarah is the youngest of the 11 of us grandkids and she is having a baby! I can barely believe it. She is nervous and excited, taking all of this in stride as opposed to those women who are the first woman on earth to ever have a baby. I am very proud of her, even more so when I remember that she is only 21.
The baby shower is today. What on earth does one buy your beloved baby cousin to celebrate the birth of her first baby? I am at a loss. So what says “I love you so much and I am so terribly happy for you” other than the crib or stroller that she already has? Who has kids and can remember what was the best present you were given at the baby shower? Thanks for any ideas!

That was me and Sarah on her 21st birthday, this past August when gaggle of us girls went to Nakama, the Japanese hibachi joint, to celebrate her.
The 30th I leave for Orlando. I seriously have no idea what I am going to be for Adam’s Halloween party. It is already the 13th. Yep, I still need a costume. One that is not terribly hot coz the temps in Orlando are by no means chilly and one that doesn’t make me look like a whore coz I don’t wanna go that route. I don’t feel the need to stick to the party’s theme, but I do need a costume.
My little cousin, she comments here as Sarah or Quirky Sarah, actually made the costume in the above picture. I wore it a few years ago. This photo was taken at her mom’s house when I first tried it on. The Renaissance costume was loved by me enough that I wore it for a few years. I just think it would be too hot for a Florida party.
So, ummm, help? Any neat ideas for a costume that will travel well? At this point I am considering cutting two holes in a sheet and calling myself a ghost.
My cousin Sarah is getting married today. I took the day off from work as I have tons of running around to do in order to help ensure that everything is ready for tonight. Ceremony is on my aunt’s porch (remind me to tell you of the tulle covered arch that is sorta acting like a mosquito net…funny stuff) at 7 PM tonight. Our cousin is performing the ceremony and at last night’s rehearsal it was awesome to see him looking so official. He is a terrific minister.
Anyhow, there is plenty of work to accomplish to make sure the reception happens, so I gotta run!
If you have been following along, you read about us trying to put together a wedding in much less than a month. Wheeeeeeeeeeeee! Honestly, it is fun and exciting. But I have sorta hit a snag.
Bride is busy and a DJ isn’t really in her budget. She asked me to take to the internet her plea for music suggestions. The wedding is outside on our aunt’s porch. There will be one of those white thingies for the bride to walk on, but still she is walking through the yard as opposed to walking down a “real” aisle. So, what music should she walk to? Traditional “Here Comes the Bride” or something different? (Our cousin walked to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” on the beach last year so that is out.)
Also, reception tunes are being requested. The party will be inside, at a church hall, and the bride really wants to simply throw on some CDs and let it ride. She wants you to suggest music. We have three to four hours to fill, so be generous with your suggestions in the comments.
