Gotta Get Smart

I love movies. Something so special about going to the theater, sitting in the dark with a group of strangers and all experiencing the same thing at the same time. Knowing that it wasn’t really all that long ago that movies didn’t even exist or didn’t even have sound, I truly appreciate the technology that allows such amazing images and sounds to entertain me, to fully immerse me in the story being presented. I love the escapism that movies offer.
Unfortunately I don’t go to nearly as many movies as I would like. And watching them at home just isn’t the same. Don’t get me wrong, I pay the cable company for just about every movie channel they have to offer, but I definitely prefer actually going to the theater. Last movie I saw out was the latest Indy. Before that was Iron Man. And I can’t even remember what was before that…too long ago.
So this weekend I decided that I would without a doubt get my butt to the movies. I am torn between going on Saturday to avoid the heat and enjoy their air conditioning or going on Sunday to get outta the rain. Guess I will see who is free to join me and what works for them.
And of course, it will also depend on fighting over which movie. I am feeling the need to look at my Rock, which means Get Smart. Even if he isn’t the headliner in a movie, I will gladly see anything he is a part of. *swoon*

mmmmm. Dwayne Johnson makes me swoon. And I am strangely attracted to Steve Carrell. Get Smart is a good choice…

I love going to movies also. I will wake up and say - today I am going to see a movie. And I do. I liked Get Smart…but then I totally heart Steve Carrell

Movies are fun! I recently went to see The Incredible Hulk and it was pretty good, but of course it had Edward Norton and since I completely love him I’m a little biased.
But have fun at the movies this weekend!

Oh. And p.s. I love going to movies too. The last one I went to see was Sex And The City. Can’t remember the one before that.

I love going to the movies. Something about being in the theater gives you permission to completely lose yourself in the movie.

libragirl -
glad i didn’t listen to the critics who didn’t like get smart, because i laughed and thoroughly enjoyed it. unfortunately you are gonna have to fight mel for steve and she’s rather feisty. good luck!
sarah -
oh edward norton is scrumptious! great choice! tonight was so fun that i might just go again tomorrow.
sodapop -
painfully good looking is a spectacular way to put it! especially while i was in the theater with him larger than life on the screen in front of me. i about drooled all over myself. yummy.
britt -
exactly! i get completely lost in movies and that is precisely the way i want it. love the movies.

I’m not much of a movie goer. The Rock and Steve Carrell don’t push my buttons either. On the other hand… Anne Hathaway is HAWT!

yay, more for me!!! although you are so right, anne was smoken in the movie. i mean, she REALLY looked good. dwayne didn’t have nearly enough screen time, but she certainly didn’t hurt the eyes when i had to watch her.

I really enjoyed Get Smart, and I think that Dwayne Johnson needs to be in more movies - he’s very funny and a good actor.

this morning i woke up entirely too early (pups had to pee) so i was flipping through the tv’s menu, looking for a movie to fall back asleep to. found the game plan. hadn’t seen it yet and found myself wide awake, impressed with my boyfriend dwayne as the lead character. i was totally enamored with him in get smart, but his role was so small and it ain’t like he is coming back for a sequel. i loved him in game plan, even if the story was pretty bad. regardless, i am so surprised that you found him to be a good actor. makes me happy to hear he has a broader appeal than i originally thought. which means he’ll be in more movies. yay!

may i suggest you go while the movie is still on the big screen? because seeing him so big, so larger than life, was fanfuckingtastic. yum!
