Lunch Run to Adult Mart

Ξ October 20th, 2008 | → 20 Comments | ∇ humor, ramblings, work |

Friday Cinderella and I decided to take a run to Adult Mart on our lunch hour. Because we can. God bless America!

We were finding everything we looked for and in general having a good time when we turned around to see this, the Becky doll:

You might remember that last week while in Vegas the hotel had everything, including the towels, marked with a B for the Bellagio Becky. I told Cinderella that when she found towels marked with a C she could use them, but until then she had to drip dry. Also told her she had to walk the ten flights of stairs to our room because the elevators were each marked with a B. Well when she saw that I had my own blow up doll, complete with the leopard print thingy, she was not exactly thrilled. An Adult Mart employee made as huge mistake when they asked if we were finding everything we needed. “No! No we are not,” she hollered. “Where’s the damn Cinderella doll?” I almost peed my pants.

Going anywhere with that woman is an adventure. She always makes me giggle. I am so glad she works with me.

On a different note, the trees on the parkway are so pretty this time of the year. Made for a nice drive to the sex store. :)

Shower Recap

Ξ October 19th, 2008 | → 12 Comments | ∇ mostly photos, party planning |

Saturday was a magnificent day in the Burgh. I took this photo while driving in construction traffic on the way to Sarah’s baby shower. Yay for not getting into an accident while trying to capture autumn!

The baby shower was wonderful. Incredible people, terrific food, lots of presents. Unfortunately I didn’t feel too well so I wasn’t much fun, but everyone else was all up and happy.

One of the best parts of the shower was painting the onesies. Little customized clothing for the new baby. My favorites were “Party in my crib b.y.o.b” and “I have a big head and little arms.”

You can probably see which one I painted.

Seems Twinkle Twat couldn’t handle my artwork so she made another onesie after I left. My cell phone rang when I got home and there was this photo waiting for me:

Made me glad that I wrote “Sexual Favors” in the “For” line when I wrote her a check for my half of the presents . Cash that, bitch! hehe

It’s Raining Babies

Ξ October 18th, 2008 | → 13 Comments | ∇ party planning, ramblings |

You all know that my Mom was the oldest of nine kids. When I was young I used to think that I had at least 50 cousins. Turns out I don’t. Sad that I didn’t realize that until about three years ago when cousin Twinkle Twat had her son and her sister and I needed to stay up all night in an effort to be supportive during the brazillion hours of labor. Talking about any and everything, we counted cousins. There are only 11 cousins. Total. ELEVEN IS FAR FROM FIFTY. Woops. Only took me to 34 years of age before I figured that one out. Sheesh.

ANYhow, my little Cousin Sarah (You might remember that a few months ago she married her Marine who is still safe and doing well in Iraq.) is having a baby who is due to meet us around Christmas Day. Sarah is the youngest of the 11 of us grandkids and she is having a baby! I can barely believe it. She is nervous and excited, taking all of this in stride as opposed to those women who are the first woman on earth to ever have a baby. I am very proud of her, even more so when I remember that she is only 21.

The baby shower is today. What on earth does one buy your beloved baby cousin to celebrate the birth of her first baby? I am at a loss. So what says “I love you so much and I am so terribly happy for you” other than the crib or stroller that she already has? Who has kids and can remember what was the best present you were given at the baby shower? Thanks for any ideas!

That was me and Sarah on her 21st birthday, this past August when gaggle of us girls went to Nakama, the Japanese hibachi joint, to celebrate her.

Ambassador 129371, Your Bourbon is Almost Ready

Ξ October 17th, 2008 | → 16 Comments | ∇ alcohol, opinions |

Maker’s Mark (my redheaded boyfriend) sent me terrific news. My bourbon is just about ready. (squee!) Has it really been seven years already? Wow.

I accidentally took the CD that Mark sent me to work so I don’t have many details, but according to the Embassy section of their website, my barrel should be ready to go in the Fall of 2009. Seems they will host a party for those who want to go to the distillery and buy bottles of bourbon from their batch. You so know my ass will be there. Might even have bells on.

The amazing folks at Maker’s Mark let me know that I can purchase a replica of the barrel plate if I want. Problem is I included my ex boyfriend’s name on the plate with my own. How about they thought of everything…I can actually have them change what is written when I order a “replica” plate. So my question to all of you is whether or not I should order the barrel plate as it was originally written or if I should simply have them put my name alone on the plate…

(The two photos on this post were from the first visit to the distillery that I had with the ex. It was a good trip…the distillery was all decked out for Christmas. Way cool. And as you can see in the one photo, the owner of the company was signing special bottles. I still have mine. Hell, I have about 20 collectible bottles about now, but the Christmas bottle that year was way cool. Hehe, I am even wearing my Ambassador pin in these photos. Too funny. I am such a dork!)

HNT – My 25th Half Nekkid Thursday

Ξ October 16th, 2008 | → 17 Comments | ∇ half nekkid thursday |

Last Saturday I told you about Blake, a guy that I met in Vegas. He was a blast and made me laugh. Before he left the buffet at the Bellagio and headed back out into Sin City he showed me a little nipple for your HNT viewing pleasure…

He was pretty damn cute. With an incredible laugh. Great arms, too. Yum. Thanks, Blake!

Anyhow, the night Cinderella tried on her thousand dollar Prada shoes that I wouldn’t let her buy, I took a few photos of me after her drunk self passed the hell out (rrrrrrrrr, thanks for no help with HNT, woman!). I was kinda under the influence of Nate’s exceptional bartending skills, but here is what I came up with…

and…

and…

Yep, I know. All my photos look the same. Sorry. I was kinda not sober. And again, NO HELP. That will change for next week’s photos. Stay tuned. In the meantime, here is a photo of Cinderella’s vagina:

(Look, don’t blame me. I don’t think a Sheetz sausage wrapped in French toast looks like a vagina. Blame Cinderella. If she would have done a real guest post she wouldn’t have to give us such ridiculous images. Lunatic.)

For more HNT fun, head over to see Os and click on his comments.

And in the meantime, don’t forget that it is October…

Tenacity, the 70′s and My Butt

Ξ October 15th, 2008 | → 11 Comments | ∇ ramblings |

Every Tuesday morning at work we have a meeting at 8 AM to discuss all the deals we are working on. One of those “make sure nothing falls between the cracks” kind of meeting. As usual, I was thisclose to being late. (Gimme a break, I was even born three days late…I am rarely on time for anything.) In a hurry to get to the office I quickly jumped into the vehicle and turned the key in the ignition. Forcing myself to actually breathe for a moment so that the oil would have a chance to do its job before I threw the truck in reverse and stomped on the gas, I looked out the windshield at the far left corner of my driveway. How cool was it to find snapdragons growing in the crack between the stone wall and railroad tie wall? WAY fucking cool. Such tenacity. I can’t believe that I didn’t notice such a strong little flower before. Wonder when it started growing…especially since I never planted snapdragons and they don’t grow anywhere else near my house.

Ya know what else is cool? That I had my camera with me and could quickly snap a photo before rushing to my meeting. A meeting that I was not late for, thankyouverymuch.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A came across this blog that posted insane recipe cards from the 70′s along with their comments. So not right. We are talking wrong in many ways. And yet funny…
Chicken Liver Bake: enjoy it with the ashes of a loved one. Or maybe what’s left of the chickens are in that urn. Maybe the chickens were your loved ones. But chickens never love back enough. And that’s why you have to KILL them. And eat their livers ritualistically. And then they’re a part of you forever. Forever.
hehe. Crazy 70′s Weight Watchers cards.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What on earth could I have done that feels as though someone punched me in my right butt cheek? Hurts. Ouchie. :)

Night and Day

Ξ October 14th, 2008 | → 13 Comments | ∇ mostly photos |

Trying to play with my camera and take sunset photos…didn’t turn out so well.

Neither did trying to capture the row of changing trees while driving and holding the camera out the truck’s window this morning.

I need a new camera. Or to find someone who can use this one since I obviously can’t. :)

404

Ξ October 14th, 2008 | → 8 Comments | ∇ Uncategorized |

I have over 400 posts in the ole feed reader. Things have been incredibly crazy with work so I got waaaay behind on reading “my blogs” and I hate it. Miss you guys. Just don’t see myself getting caught up any time soon. Might have to hit the famous panic button and mark all as read. Don’t like feeling so out of touch with yinz. Good news is I am almost over my cold / flu / bug nastiness. While I am not healthy, I can see it from here.

Also? Fall is here big time. 80 degrees during the day, barely over 50 at night. Oh how I love it. The trees are getting all dressed up before they go to sleep for the winter and the drive into work every day is a pleasure as a result. This weekend I might go up to camp again. Take Reilly and enjoy a good bonfire. Plan to take a day or two off from work next week and head to the barn for lots of horseback riding. At some point I need to put together the costume I need for Adam’s party and then BAM, next thing I know I will be on a plane headed for Orlando. Back home in time to vote, then headed to South Carolina for the final trade show of the year. Me love Charleston. Hope to hit the Noisy Oyster and other fun places. Wanna see the sites. Wanna play. Yay! (Then back to work for the year end push. Boooo.)

In other news, Penguins take on Philly tonight here at home. Should be interesting seeing as how the boys seemed pregnant Saturday night (missed a period or two).

Go Pens!

Not a Fucken Clue

Ξ October 13th, 2008 | → 21 Comments | ∇ opinions, party planning |

The 30th I leave for Orlando. I seriously have no idea what I am going to be for Adam’s Halloween party. It is already the 13th. Yep, I still need a costume. One that is not terribly hot coz the temps in Orlando are by no means chilly and one that doesn’t make me look like a whore coz I don’t wanna go that route. I don’t feel the need to stick to the party’s theme, but I do need a costume.

My little cousin, she comments here as Sarah or Quirky Sarah, actually made the costume in the above picture. I wore it a few years ago. This photo was taken at her mom’s house when I first tried it on. The Renaissance costume was loved by me enough that I wore it for a few years. I just think it would be too hot for a Florida party.

So, ummm, help? Any neat ideas for a costume that will travel well? At this point I am considering cutting two holes in a sheet and calling myself a ghost.

Rocks

Ξ October 12th, 2008 | → 11 Comments | ∇ dogs, mom, mostly photos |

My Mom collected rocks. If you asked her what she wanted for her birthday or Christmas she would simply tell you to find her a rock…from your yard or from a gem store, it didn’t matter, she just loved rocks. Mom would always tease me that she was spending my inheritance every time she returned from the Shady Side Mining Company with another necklace or stone. I am one of those who never understood a parent doing without so that their kids could benefit from their death, so I encouraged her spending on items that brought her joy.

Fucked up part is that when Mom died I got all of her precious stones and rocks. Now I find myself collecting them. Nothing like what Mom did, but I certainly appreciate them. Although I have a bunch of her pricey pieces, here is one of my favorites:

Mom used it indoors as a doorstop, but I have it out on the railing of the back porch. A quarter of the railing is covered in rocks from Mom. I love how the setting sun hits the Shalom rock. Just about every sunset I am on the back porch, watching my dogs run around like lunatics, and it makes me happy to see that simple rock. (Partially happy because rocks make me think of Mom; partially happy because Shalom is written on it and I loved that my Mom the ex Catholic nun would light Kwanzaa candles and buy a rock with a Hebrew saying on it.)

Saturday I stayed home and did a whole bunch of nothing in an effort to shake this cold. I seem to be winning (yay!!) because my symptoms are easing, so I think I did the right thing. Instead of pumpkin patches and apple festivals, instead of drinks with Doodle and Dang in one of their yards, I did the right thing and stayed home. Pups appreciated it, too…

(that’s my Reillymonster)

(and his dog, Ludo)

Not a bad way to spend a Saturday. Tomorrow is the neighborhood block party. I might join for a bit, although I doubt it. Seeing as how I was gone for ten days there is a bunch of stuff I need to take care of. And the weather should be perfect. I might need to take the dogs to a remote park for a good long run. (Be realistic…they will run in the woods, I will walk. :) )
