I am largely thankful that my cousin (who worked in tower 1 and assisted people in 2) survived. Along with my other cousin.
It still just leaves me in disbelief.

    yeah it should always hurt
they should play the video everyday
    every single day
and everytime some idiot is on TV spewing some anti american BS they should be forced by law to run the clip right after the aforementioned idiot!!

I was over at my girlfriend’s that day (now my wife). We had just barely been dating a few months when it happened. Turned on the TV. Took the train to work… somber. Got to work and they had TVs on watching, wondering… it was all very sad.

In August 2000, I had the chance to go to NYC and stay with a friend for a week and see the sights, including the WTC. I have pictures and memories that will always be there.

    It will hurt.

But pain is not necessarily a bad thing.

Because it reminds you that you are alive to remember.

All sacrificed some. Some sacrificed all.

Yeah…it will always hurt. But like the Japanese in World War II, the bastards have not won, nor will they win. God Bless America.

Something about my tears this morning…
    cathartic.
makes me feel a part of something larger.
I think we will always feel the hurt.

    sybil -
i’m glad your family managed to be safe that horrific day.

    sage -
i remember being so angry when a few days later folks were saying that the video footage was too graphic to continue to play on television. what the fuck?! certainly it was graphic, because it was a tremendously awful event. not that i need or want to see it every day, but i hate how the media controls every fucking thing. but that is a rant for another day. today, for me, is about those who lost their lives that terrible day. and for remembering the relief in my mom’s voice when i called her to tell her they were evacuating downtown pittsburgh due to a plane going down less than an hour from here. i’ll never forget our conversation, or the hug i received when i went to her work that day.

    martymankins -
thanks for sharing part of your experience from that day. it was nice to hear that you have good, positive memories from before the attacks. i was at the office that awful day and we were running to the workout room to learn what we could from the televisions. as soon as that plane went down in the pa field, our boss made us all leave work. my dad was a federal marshal and i kinda freaked, knowing he couldn’t leave the federal building where he was stationed to work.

    just beth -
i am glad that you are also hopeful. :)

    turn –
i still won’t buy a japanese car. sigh. (huge hug right back at cha.)

    britt -
heart beat (today is the one and only day i wish this site had smileys.)

    dawg -
just reading your comment brought tears to my eyes. i’m so thankful that you were there to assist and i’m so grateful that you are alive and well. please know that i will always be humbled at the loss you personally experienced and that your partner who lost her life will always have a special place in my prayers. much love and thanks to you.

    finn -
    i refuse to forget.

    donnie -
god bless america is something that i really haven’t heard much of today. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

    hilly -
i’d give anything not to be a part of this large tragedy. (((hug)))
